Volkswagen has made some variant changes in both the Virtus and Taigun line-up. Amongst the changes, one key highlight is the introduction of a new GT Plus 6-speed manual transmission variant. This variant is priced at INR 16.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus 6MT : More Details
Up until now, the German carmaker was offering only a 7-speed DCT gearbox with the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in the GT trip. However, now, customers who prefer the manual option in the full-loaded trim will be able to get a car of their choice.
With this change, now, both the VW Virtus and its twin, the Skoda Slavia share more or less the same variant and powertrain options.
There are no changes otherwise to the sedan.
Volkswagen Virtus : Highlights
Virtus is the second car to use the dedicated MQB A0 IN platform. The first was the Taigun SUV. This platform has been designed for cars catered to the Indian conditions. Further, with the Virtus, Volkswagen aims to make a comeback in the sedan segment. The Virtus replaces the Vento in the company’s line-up, which was a popular offering in the market.
The Virtus measures 4,561 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width and 1,507 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,651 mm, making it one of the longest and widest sedans in its class. In terms of boot space, the car offers 521 litres. Compared to Vento, it is bigger and offers more space, especially for the rear occupants.
Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus 6MT Powertrain
The Virtus comes with a 1.5-litre, four cylinder turbo petrol engine. This unit churns out 148 BHP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm and 250 Nm @ 1,600-3,500 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
