Volkswagen Virtus crosses 50,000 sales milestone in India

Volkswagen India has achieved a significant milestone with the Virtus sedan, surpassing 50,000 wholesale units sold in just 28 months. The Virtus has also emerged as the top-selling model in its segment for 2024, recording over 17,000 units sold so far this year.

Year-on-Year Sales Numbers

Since its launch in June 2022, the Virtus has seen impressive sales growth. In its first year, the model sold approximately 20,000 units. In the second year, sales increased to around 30,000 units, and in the current year, the Virtus has already sold over 17,000 units in just the first 10 months.

Market Impact and Customer Reception

The Virtus has resonated strongly with customers, contributing nearly 18.5% to Volkswagen’s total domestic sales since its launch. The sedan’s success is attributed to its combination of performance, advanced features, and robust build quality. Volkswagen India’s Brand Director, Ashish Gupta, expressed gratitude to customers, stating, “We are immensely grateful to all our customers for making the Volkswagen Virtus India’s No.1 selling premium sedan.”

Performance and Features

The Virtus is available with two engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 113 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine for performance enthusiasts. The sedan comes equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and a premium audio experience with an 8-speaker system. It also boasts over 40 active and passive safety features, earning a 5-star GNCAP rating.

With over 50,000 units sold, the Volkswagen Virtus has clearly struck a chord with Indian car buyers. This milestone isn’t just a testament to the car’s engineering and design but also a reflection of the trust and confidence customers place in Volkswagen. The steady year-on-year growth underscores the Virtus’ appeal and reliability in a competitive market. We hope Volkswagen increases their product portfolio and bring more products to the Indian market.
