Volkswagen recently showcased to us its new ID.7. This is an all-electric limousine for the upper mid-size segment. This EV comes equipped with the latest generation of the VW’s electric drive technology The ID.7 benefits from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The EV carries sporty design elements that match perfectly with its high-performance nature. The launch of the new GTX model for the ID.7 will happen at the IAA Mobility in Munich in September this year.
On the inside, we see some subtle details such as the red GTX contrast stitching on the seats, dash panel, and doors. These touches further emphasise the sportiness of the model. The exterior design, on the other hand, gets black gloss elements. Very much like the previous GTX models ID.4 and ID.5, the vehicle dynamics take control of the dual-motor all-wheel drive system for the ID.7 GTX. It controls the powertrain, and at the same time, it also takes care of the braking, steering, and chassis control systems. All of which depend on the selected driving profile. The ID.7’s running gear and steering are made on the basis of the modular electric drive (MEB) platform.
The GTX sub-brand with its all-electric models has been part of Volkswagen’s range for two years now. But, for the Indian market, it is yet to make its debut. Because Volkswagen India is still evaluating the idea of bringing the ID models here. The brand recently showcased the ID.4 GTX in India for the very first time. The electric crossover was unveiled globally back in 2021. It is based on the ID Crozz concept that was showcased in 2020 Indian Auto Expo. With the current demand for EVs in the market, VW has to take a call as early as possible.
