Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Volkswagen India announces its sales report for February 2022. The German carmaker posted a total sales of 4,028 units for the given period. This translates to a growth of 84 per cent when compared to February 2021. The increase in demand is spearheaded by the newly launched Taigun. Furthermore, to excite things, Volkswagen India will soon launch its Vento replacement in the market. As per schedule, Volkswagen Virtus will world premiere on 8th March 2022. The growing sales figure does reflect upon the customer’s growing trust towards VW. And this is exactly what the carmaker’s aim was with the introduction of its ‘India 2.0’ initiative.

Volkswagen Taigun – A Brief Overview

Given the rising demand for SUVs in the market, Volkswagen’s timing of the launch of Tagin is pretty perfect. The SUV is based on the improvised MQB A0 IN platform. This makes the car more aligned to the Indian driving conditions, but any compromise of losing its true Volkswagen DNA. Customers get two engines to choose from. First is the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, and second is the enthusiast’s choice, the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual gearbox option. And on top of that, the 1.0-litre engine gets a 6-speed torque converter meanwhile the 1.5-litre unit gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Prices start from INR 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go all the way up till 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Virtus – The Game Changers In The Sedan Segment?

Sedans are not selling, and there’s no one denying this fact. The growing number of SUVs and Crossover options we have in today’s time is quite overwhelming. But, interestingly, VW thinks otherwise. The carmaker is all set to revive the sedan segment with the introduction of the Virtus in the market. The car will largely match the aspirations of its sibling, the newly launched Skoda Slavia. Both the sedans will look to bring back the demand for sedans, which from a driving aspect, ride much better than their SUV counterparts. We wait to see how both the offerings help the Skoda Volkswagen Group achieve their target.
