Volkswagen reveals interior of the all-electric ID.4 SUV

Volkswagen has shared the interior design and features of the Volkswagen ID.4. Not too long ago, the brand confirmed that it has started series production on the all-electric ID.4 which is an SUV based on the MEB – Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten (modular electric drive matrix) architecture. Volkswagen has also shared pictures of the dashboard giving us a glimpse of the design features that will come with the new electric SUV. 

On the inside, the new Volkswagen ID.4 is based on the “freedom on the outside, free space on the inside” design philosophy, benefitting from the Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform. The ID.4 features a wide and flat dashboard fascia with multiple layers and an uncluttered centre console. 

The central infotainment system comes with floating design and not linked to the central console, designed as an independent component. The digital instruments cluster also appears to be connected to the steering column and comes integrated with the drive selector buttons. 

The door handles on the ID.4 lie flush with the body and features electric unlocking. The doors on the ID.4 also open wide for easier ingress and egress for the passengers while the SUV comes with a high seating position giving a commanding driving environment, while the rear seat bench offers space similar to conventional SUVs. The ID.4 also comes with upright rear backrests and 543-litres of the luggage compartment capacity. 

The Volkswagen ID.4 also comes with 30-colour spectrum ambient lighting integrated with intuitive support for the drivers in a host of situations lighting effects in different colours that are interspersed with the driving systems, driver assist, navigation systems and signals braking prompts, guiding the driver by blinking when the vehicle needs recommend to a lane change and can also warn the driver if their ID.4 is in the wrong lane.

The ID.4 boasts to come with sporty yet comfortable front seats with electrical adjustment options, pneumatic lumbar supports have a built-in massage function. The future limited edition ID.4 will also come with seat covers made from animal-free materials made from a microfibre with 20 % recycled PET bottles, a combination of leatherette and ArtVelours. The ID.4 also comes with the option of a large, tilting panoramic sunroof made of glass offering occupants an unrestricted view of the sky. 

The Volkswagen ID.4 will be built at Volkswagen’s Zwickau production facility and for the first time the production plant has been completely converted for manufacturing e-mobility vehicles, with investments running at EUR 1.2 billion.
