Volkswagen planning a E-Class rival

Volkswagen is being reported to have started working on a new luxury sedan which is expected to rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the likes. This new sedan will be positioned above the Passat and below the Phaeton. There is no update if this car would make it to India as of now, but considering Volkswagen tried their luck with the Phaeton, they would probably bring this model too.

Dubbed as the ‘Noble-VW’, this new sedan is expected to share its underpinnings with the next-generation Audi A6.

Pricing here in India would be a key factor. The Phaeton which was available for sometime was a sales dud. Primarily because Volkswagen couldn’t manage to get that luxury car halo over it which the Audi’s and BMW’s and Mercedes’ did. If they do price this new car lower than it’s rivals, then things might work. But you never know.

The car is still a good couple of years away from making a market debut.
