Volkswagen has announced a slew of updates for the Taigun SUV and the Virtus sedan. Both the cars are a product of the India 2.0 initiative and the car maker has these new features to increase the cars’ value proposition and accessibility.
One of the first features is the auto headlamps, auto cornering and leaving home lights on the Highline 1.0 TSI Dynamic Line and the GT trim of the 1.5 TSI Performance Line of the Taigun.
Apart from this, the Volkswagen Virtus now gets rear fog lamps as a standard feature across all the variants. These fog lamps help improve the visibility of the vehicle in conditions of low light like fog.
Volkswagen has also updated the engines offered with these two cars to meet latest RDE norms along with the compliance with E20 fuel standard. All 2023 model year vehicles will meet these aforementioned norms.
Volkswagen has announced a price hike from April 1, 2023. The carmaker says this hike is a result of the updates to the car along with rising input costs. The price hike will be to the tune of 2 percent across the board.
Volkswagen Taigun has scored a perfect 5-star safety rating under the updated protocol of the GNCAP. Its sibling, Skoda Kushaq, also received the same 5-star result. Both these SUVs use the same MQB-A0-IN platform of the SKODA Auto Volkswagen India Group. This makes the VW Taigun (and the Skoda Kushaq) one of the first cars to achieve a full 5-star rating in both the Adult and Child safety categories. As per the report by Global NCAP, the passenger compartment, as well as the footwell of the Volkswagen Taigun, remained stable in the frontal offset test.
Not to mention, the car offers 3-point belts in all seating positions as standard in all versions. However, the front passenger Airbag can’t be disabled. This means a rear-facing child seat can’t be installed on the first passenger seat.
