Paving its way towards electrification, Volkswagen at the Annual Brand Conference 2024 unveiled the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 for India. The VW ID.4 will align Volkswagen India with global trends and allow the company’s transition
from Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) to Electric Vehicles (EV). The introduction of the ID.4 full-electric BEV also reinforces the brand’s commitment towards a cleaner and an environmentally conscious future. The brand also announced that the Volkswagen ID.4 all-electric crossover vehicle will soon be launched in the Indian market.
Volkswagen ID.4 Electric Crossover – Powertrain and Range
Powering the Volkswagen ID.4 is a 146 Hp / 220 Nm rear wheel electric drive motor. The VW ID.4 is also available with a 299 Hp / 310 Nm variant and a top-spec GTX variant with a 300 Hp motor. The Volkswagen ID.4 comes with a 77 kWh battery pack on the GTX variant. This battery pack claims to offer 480 km on a single charge. The VW ID.4 comes with a single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations.
The Volkswagen ID.4 is 4580mm long and offers ground clearance of 210mm. Thanks to this the electric vehicle will be capable of traversing over rough roads and large speed breakers with ease. The ID.4 features an MEB architecture, and comes with a luggage carrying capacity from 543 to 1,575 litres.
Volkswagen ID.4 Electric Crossover – Key Features
The Volkswagen ID.4 EV comes with a digital instruments cluster as well as a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The ID.4 also gets an augmented reality head-up display. Also, the ID.4 comes with LED headlamps and taillamps and top spec variants get interactive IQ.Light LED matrix headlights.
Volkswagen is likely to bring the ID.4 to the Indian market via the Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) route. The brand will soon be announcing the launch dates and the price of the Volkswagen ID.4 in India. At the same event, the brand also introduced the Volkswagen Taigun GT Line, Taigun GT Plus Sport and the Virtus GT Plus Sport concept.
