Volkswagen has revealed the new ID.3 production car which is depicting the future of the brands car line up. The ID.3 is the first new generation pure electric vehicle with 0 emissions, connected technology and good driving range. The ID.3 is also the first car to roll out with the new Volkswagen logo. The ID.3 made a global premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. The ID.3 is being positioned as a daily driver with benefits of compact-car manoeuvrability, but enough space inside the cabin to keep occupants happy.

Based on the new Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MED), the ID.3 has been designed for an electric powertrain system without making any sort of compromise on performance, space, safety, practicality or features. Thanks to the long wheelbase achieved via the MEB layout, the interiors of the ID.3 with short overhands allow for more open room for occupants and makes it a comfortable 5-seater car. It will also come with an all-digital, all-new speedometer cluster along with a 10″ touchscreen infotainment system as well. Of course all controls are placed on the electrically adjustable steering wheel which also get touch sensitive buttons.

Volkswagen will launch the production ID.3 with 3 battery options. The base variant will make use of a 45 kWh batter with a range of 330 km and this variant will ask for €30,000. The 420 km driving range model will have a 58 kWh battery and the highest capacity battery is 77 kWh which allows for a impressive 550 km driving range. With a fast charging with output of 100 kW, the ID.3 can have a driving range of 290 km in just 30 minutes on being on charge. The batteries are mounted in the underbody of the vehicle, which improve the overall dynamics and also the centre of gravity.

Volkswagen will launch the ‘First Edition’ of the ID.3 with the medium capacity battery. This setup generates 150 kW of peak power and has a torque of 310 Nm. The ID.3 with this combination can achieve a top speed of 160 kmph and has been priced under €40,000.

Other features will include adaptive cruise control, keyless access and locking mechanism, centre console with 2 USB type-c connections, ambient lights, Matrix LED headlamp option, Matrix side lights, 19″ light weight alloy wheels, etc.
