If there’s an auto show anywhere in the world, and a brand doesn’t showcase an electric car which is slated for a future launch; then the show is incomplete. Volkswagen has now revealed the I.D. Vizzion concept, which although a concept now, will eventually go on sale around 2022. This will be the flagship product in the I.D. family for Volkswagen and will be sold as the saloon of the future.
With an electric powertrain, autonomous driving, augmented reality controlling the car, adaptive learning via artificial intelligence, and all such technology will set new benchmarks in not just connected mobility, but also in sustainability, comfort, convenience & safety. With this I.D. Vizzion concept, Volkswagen is trying to highlight how a new electric architecture will allow them to design interiors & exteriors of future cars.
Volkswagen is also claiming that this setup will result in offering cabin space to occupants better than what a premium-class five-metre luxury car has to offer.
A mix between human and machine via intuitive interactions, mixed reality eyewear with HoloLens, voice control, projected displays on the inside, virtual assistant, gesture controls and all that will truly make the I.D. Vizzion a car of the future. It will be more of a smart device on wheel rather than a car which needs a chauffeur, but becomes one by itself. Being connected to the digital world, the I.D. Vizzion will allow time to the occupants to relax, communicate or work without being fatigued.
Volkswagen says that augmented reality into driving might be seen around 2030, but heavy use of automated driving can be conceived around 2025.
The I.D. Vizzion makes use of an AWD system paired to 2 electric motors and a 225 kW system output. Whats even more interesting that this car can offer you a range of up to 665 km
Volkswagen is planning to retail around 1 million units of all-electric cars by 2025.
