Renowned Italian electric two-wheeler brand VLF, established by the famed designer Alessandro Tartarini in 1993, has announced its entry into the rapidly growing Indian electric two-wheeler market. With a strong emphasis on Italian heritage and innovative design, VLF is partnering with KAW Veloce Motors Pvt Ltd to oversee the manufacturing and distribution of its products in India, promising an exciting new era for Indian riders.
VLF’s entry into India is marked by its distinctive design philosophy and commitment to creating electric scooters with a strong personality. Alessandro Tartarini, the creative force behind VLF, emphasized the importance of style and individuality in a competitive and evolving market. “In a market that is extremely competitive and constantly evolving, we need to create products that are stylish and have a strong personality,” Tartarini stated. This approach underscores VLF’s mission to offer electric scooters that break away from traditional gasoline-powered designs, providing stylish and affordable alternatives for the Indian market.
The new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will be established in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, benefiting from the KAW Group’s extensive six-decade manufacturing experience in the region. This facility will be the cornerstone of VLF’s operations in India, enabling the production of high-quality electric scooters tailored to the needs and preferences of Indian consumers.
VLF plans to launch its iconic electric scooter, the Tennis, by the festive season this year. This scooter is designed to cater to a diverse demographic, from first-time buyers to seasoned riders looking for an upgrade. With a focus on aspirational branding and premium riding experiences at affordable prices, VLF aims to make a significant impact on the Indian electric two-wheeler landscape.
To build awareness and generate interest among Indian consumers, VLF will roll out an extensive marketing campaign leading up to the official brand launch during the 2024 festive season. This campaign will feature engaging marketing activities, roadshows, and participation in major auto expos, firmly establishing VLF’s presence in India.
VLF is also focused on establishing a robust dealer network across India, targeting major tier 1 and tier 2 cities. The goal is to have 15 dealerships operational by the end of 2024, with plans to scale up to 50 dealerships by the end of the financial year. This expansion strategy is designed to ensure that VLF’s innovative electric scooters are accessible to a wide range of Indian consumers.
