In February 2024, Vietnam-based electric mobility company VinFast officially revealed that the brand will be coming to India. In addition to this, VinFast also revealed that its first integrated electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in India is also set to be constructed in Tamil Nadu with a initial investment of USD 500 Million spread over 5 years. While VinFast is likely to use India as a manufacturing base for exports of Electric Vehicles, the company is also likely to launch some of its products in our market. One of those EVs could be a mini-electric SUV called VF3.
The VinFast VF3 measures an overall length of approximately 3,190 mm and features a 2-door 4-seat design. The electric mini-SUV also features a rear trunk, and claims to have sufficient interior space to accommodate up to four people. To put things into perspective, the MG Comet EV is 2974mm in length. The VF3 is also 1,679 mm wide, and 1,622 mm tall and comes with a 2,075 mm wheelbase. The VinFast VF3 also comes with 16-inch wheels which are 4-inch larger than the tiny Comet EV. This is likely to offer more comfort and control at high speeds. The VF3 also claims a high- 191mm ground clearance.
Powering the VinFast VF3 is a 32 kW electric motor. The electric motor claims to deliver 110 Nm of torque on its rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup. The electric motor is capable enough to accelerate the mini-SUV from 0-50 kmph in 5.3 seconds. Additionally, an 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery claims to offer an NEDC driving range of up to 210 km on a single charge. Also, the car can be fast charged from 10% to 70% SOC which takes only 36 minutes, reveals VinFast.
The VinFast VF3 is not short in the feature department as well. The VF3 electric mini-SUV comes with a driver-centric 10-inch touchscreen entertainment system. The cabin is also designed ergonomically to comfortably seats four passengers, reveals VinFast. Furthermore, the rear seats can be folded to expand the cargo space to upto 285 litres.
