Vietnamese electric car manufacturer, VinFast has announced that the brand has broken ground to establish its first integrated electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in India. VinFast reveals that the electric vehicle manufacturing facility is in the state of Tamil Nadu.
VinFast’s integrated EV production facility spans across 400 acres of land within the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT). The company reveals that it is making a total initial investment of USD 500 Million spread over 5 years.
The VinFast EV manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi will be capable of producing 150,000 units per year. In addition to this, the VinFast production facility will contribute to economic growth in the local area in Tamil Nadu. The Vinfast plant will create around 3,000 to 3,500 direct job opportunities for the local people around the Thoothukudi area.
In addition to the manufacturing plant, VinFast also aims to establish a nationwide dealership network in India. The brand reveals that the Vietnamese company is set to provide the Indian market with premium quality products at competitive pricing. The brand is also likely to produce the VinFast EVs in India and export them to the international markets. This will make India the production hub and further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Vietnam.
Gracing the ground breaking ceremony was Thiru M. K. Stalin, Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Also, present at the ground breaking ceremony were Thiru Dr. T. R. B. Rajaa, Honorable Minister for Industries, Government of Tamil Nadu and Thiru V. Arun Roy IAS, Industries Secretary, Member of Parliament – Thoothukudi constituency.
Furthermore, Ministers of state, MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu), senior representatives from the State government and the VinFast India leadership team were also present at the ground breaking ceremony.
