Vespa Elegante to arrive this Diwali

Piaggio is rumoured to be preparing to launch yet another variant of the Vespa scooter in India. Called as the Vespa Elegante, this will be the fourth Vespa variant to go on sale in the Indian two-wheeler market. Piaggio already sells the Vespa in three variants – Vespa LX 125, Vespa VX 125 and the Vespa S. As of date, there is a limited edition variant called the Vespa Esclusivo available for sale as well.

The Elegante will have subtle cosmetic changes compared to other Vespa variants and will be based on the Vespa VX 125 platform. Design cues will be carried over from the international model, the Vespa Primavera. A triangular front grille, round headlamp, front disc brake, tubeless tyres, retro style split seats etc. will be available on the Elegante. The scooter is expected to be available in pearl white, brown and other currently available body colours.

Powering the scooter will be the same 125cc air-cooled petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox pumping out 10 PS of power and 10.6 Nm of torque. The Vespa Elegante is expected to hit the markets during the festive season, and should be priced somewhere around Rs. 79,000.
