Piaggio has announced a festive season offer for their Aprilia and Vespa range of scooters which could result in total benefits up to INR 10,000 to the end user. Under this ‘Funtabulous Offer’ customers who wish to buy a Aprilia or Vespa scooter till October 2019 can avail benefits. Piaggio also recently launched the Aprilia Storm and Vespa Urban Club scooters which will also offer the same benefits.
Currently, the scooters on offer under the Piaggio brand include the Aprilia SR 125, SR 150 and SR 150 Race along with the retro Vespa SXL125, SXL150, VXL 125, VXL150 and Elegante. Both the Aprilia and Vespa range of scooters share the same engine and other components.
This Piaggio ‘Funtabulous Offer’ is allowing customers to avail 5 years free warranty with 2 years of comprehensive product warranty, 3 years extended warranty, free RSA and servicing without labour cost for the 1st year. There are additional benefits up to INR 6,000 via the PayTM APP. Insurance benefits on the 125cc models include 5 year 3rd-party insurance for free while the 150cc models also get benefits; both of which might add up to roughly INR 4,000.
Piaggio is currently working on introducing motorcycles in India. The mass market premium motorcycles like the Yamaha YZF-R15 have made history in terms of sales and performance on the streets. Piaggio is working on bringing the Aprilia RS 150 & Tuono 150 to India, which would become their most affordable sports motorcycles in the country. However, the brand is currently struggling for economies of scale to justify the investment needed to build these bikes here, and if at all there would be enough demand to offset the cost involved. Nevertheless, it is a good sign that the brand intends to bring sporty yet affordable bikes to India.
