There’s bad news for the ones looking to buy Piaggio scooters. The two-wheeler maker has increased the prices of the entire Vespa and also the Aprilia lineup of scooters for the Indian market. The reason put forward by the brand states increase in the commodity prices led them to take this decision. Along with Piaggio, we have also seen a host of other two-wheeler makers take similar decisions of hiking the price.
Detailed Price Analysis
Vespa’s ZX125 trim now retails at INR 1.15 lakh. Meanwhile, the VXL 125 trim now costs INR 1.29 lakh. At the same time, the 150cc Vespa VXL 150 and SXL 150 retail at INR 1.42 lakh and INR 1.47 lakh, respectively. Vespa’s SXL 125 now carries a price tag of INR 1.33 lakh. Other Vespa titles in the lineup include Racing Sixties 125 and 150 also get a price hike. These models now retail at INR 1.39 lakh and INR 1.53 lakh, respectively. Furthermore, Vespa’s top-spec Elegante 150 gets a price tag of INR 1.55 lakh.
Aprilia had recently hiked the price for its range in May 2022. And now, in June, the company has again hiked the price. The Storm 125cc scooter now retails at INR 1.11 lakh. Meanwhile, the SR RST 125 also gets a price bump and retails at INR 1.21 lakh. The SR RST 160 now comes with a price of INR 1.30 lakh. Furthermore, Aprilia’s SR RST Race, SR RST Carbon, SXR 125 and SXR 160 retail at INR 1.39 lakh, INR 1.32 lakh, INR 1.31 lakh and INR 1.42 lakh, respectively. The prices mentioned are ex-showroom prices.
Other Updates
Aprilia Storm 125cc scooter is now available only with the drum brake trim. The disc brake model has been discontinued. The reason was that the scooter’s high price tag did not quite resonate with the Indians, thus leading to very low sales. The other options in this segment include the likes of TVS NTorq 125, Yamaha Ray ZR, TVS Jupiter 125, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, Honda Grazia, Hero Maestro 125, Yamaha Fascino 125, Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and also the newly launched Suzuki Avenis 125.
