Maruti Suzuki showcased its first all-electric vehicle e Vitara recently at the Indian Auto Expo 2025. The upcoming SUV attracted a large proportion of the crowd due to its unique design and EV powertrain.
However, Maruti also displayed the safety features of the e Vitara bluntly, focusing on passenger safety more than ever before. Now, ahead of its official launch, the internal crash test images of the e Vitara are out.
As seen in the crash test images, the production-spec model is being rigorously tested for its chassis strength and safety features. The crash tests might be internal but these appear to match the international standards of GNCAP and BNCAP; making it possible to get a 5-star rating later in the official tests.
Moreover, the e Vitara is based on the Heartect e platform that uses 50 per cent high tensile steel construction for more body strength. Maruti’s design includes shock-absorbing mountings and multi-load paths that spread the impact load evenly across the surface.
In terms of safety features, the production-spec model will come loaded with a level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, 360-degree parking camera, all-four disc brakes, TPMS, ABS, EBD, traction control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent assist, and other crucial features.
Powering the e Vitara will be two battery options – a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh. The peak power output from the bigger battery is expected to be 181 bhp and 300 Nm, while the range it will deliver is said to be 500 km.
The company has planned to launch the e Vitara in India in the coming months. We are expecting the price range of the e Vitara between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
