Not long ago, the news about KTM developing a new 160cc platform broke out. Multiple online reports suggested that KTM will be replacing its outgoing 125cc bikes with the new 160cc bikes.
Now, what appears to be is the first spy shot of the upcoming RC 160. The images have surfaced from Pune, where KTMs’ production facility is placed.
While the single image is not a close shot, it surely shows that the design of the RC 160 is going to be identical to the RC 200. It indeed will be identical to the RC 200 in more than one way as KTM is developing the 160cc platform based on the 200cc bikes itself.
We assume that this new 160cc engine will be a toned-down version of the 200cc single-cylinder unit, and it will produce peak power in the range between 19-25bhp.
In addition to the design similarities, its features will also be identical to the RC 200 in numerous ways. We are expecting it to be equipped with LED lights, a TFT console, Bluetooth, dual-channel ABS, and more.
Hardware will include 17-inch alloy wheels, disc brakes at both ends, USD front suspension, and a monoshock rear suspension.
As of now, there is no official confirmation or info available regarding its launch timeline or price. But, the previous news of KTM developing the new 160cc platform also shared that the new bikes will launch in India by or before June this year.

KTM is currently choking and gasping to stay alive internationally due to its financial crisis. The Austrian brand has a deadline of nearly 3 months to collect a revenue of 548 million Euros for its investors. The upcoming 160cc platform is nothing but a desperate attempt to survive this sinking ship of poor financial decisions.
