Spotted testing, these are new adventure models from UM Motorcycles. These bikes were reportedly spotted somewhere in India, and could make a debut sometime in 2018-19. However, UM has not really made any such announcement as of now for these models. The DSR II and Hypersport motorcycles were caught completely undisguised, and could share engines from the existing UM Motorcycle range.
When launched, these bikes would be a rival to the Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 200 on the entry level side and arch rival could be the Royal Enfield Himalayan. These bikes could have been imported for dealer display or customer clinics for now. UM Motorcycles are not really doing well in terms of sales figures, and if the brand wants to go aggressive with a multiple product portfolio, that’s could also be a gamble.
We’re expecting UM Motorcycles to plonk the 223cc single-cylinder engines on both the DSR II & Hypersport models.
As you can see in the images, the DSR II is more of an adventure motorcycle with spoked rims, long travel suspension, knobby tyres, fairing protector and large clear windscreen. The Hypersport on the other hand runs on alloy wheels, road tyres, front beak design, small windscreen, upswept exhaust, large pillion grab rail and the likes.
But, the big question is, the adventure touring segment in India has a learned customer base from what we’ve seen. Will they visit a UM Motorcycle showroom for a potential purchase?
