TVS X Electric Scooter – Ride Review

TVS Motors, a leading player in the Indian two-wheeler market, has pulled the covers off its latest innovation – the TVS X, an electric scooter that promises to redefine the electric mobility landscape. Priced at INR 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the TVS X boasts a series of groundbreaking features and a distinctive design, setting new standards for electric scooters in the country.

Design and Features: A Blend of Innovation and Comfort

The TVS X stands out as a maxi scooter, breaking away from conventional scooter designs. It features a seat height of 770 mm, eschewing the floorboard commonly found in traditional scooters. Instead, the scooter’s frame occupies this space, providing a unique structural layout. The scooter comes with a solid seat design and offers a generous 19-litres of under-seat storage, addressing practicality concerns of daily commuters.

In terms of technology, the TVS X is equipped with a sizable 10.25-inch adjustable display. Notably, it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling features like music playback and turn-by-turn navigation. The scooter incorporates the PlayTech system, allowing riders to use the display for entertainment purposes such as gaming or video watching when stationary. Rider-focused features like reverse assist, cruise control, and hill hold add to the scooter’s allure.

Performance and Powertrain: A Remarkable Electric Experience

Under the hood, the TVS X runs on the company’s advanced XLETON platform. It features a robust ram-air cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), delivering a rated power of 7 kW and a peak power of 11 kW. The scooter houses a substantial 4.44 kWh battery, granting an impressive range of 140 km on a single charge (IDC) and a top speed of 105 km/h. Acceleration is equally impressive, with the TVS X reaching 0-40 km/h in just 2.6 seconds.

Additionally, the TVS X offers riders the flexibility of choosing between three riding modes – Xtealth, Xtride, and Xonic, catering to various preferences and driving conditions.

Charging Options and Launch Details

Buyers of the TVS X will have the option of two chargers – a portable 950 W charger and a fixed 3 kW charger. The fast charger can replenish 50 percent of the battery in just 50 minutes, while a 0-80 percent charge will take 4.5 hours with the portable charger.

Excitingly, bookings for the TVS X have commenced, with deliveries set to begin in Bangalore by November 2023. Customers across the rest of the country can expect deliveries to kick off by March 2023. As an exclusive offer, the first 2,000 owners will receive a complimentary smartwatch and a special ‘Curated Concierge’ package worth INR 18,000, enhancing the overall ownership experience.

With the TVS X, the company is not only redefining electric mobility but also offering an unmatched blend of innovation, performance, and convenience to Indian riders. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking addition to India’s electric scooter market.
