TVS has launched the Scooty Zest scooter in India at a price of Rs. 42,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Zest slots in below the Wego and Jupiter scooters from TVS.
The Zest measures 1,770mm in length, 660mm in width, 1,139mm in height and 1,250mm in wheelbase. Ride height is at 760mm. It gets a lot of design changes compared to the previous versions. The front end however, is still a familiar design. It gets a clear lens headlamp and turn indicators on the front apron. Instrument cluster is backlit and has a white background along with the usual speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. Seats are broader than the previous Scooty range. Another major change is seen at the rear end, the Zest gets a LED tail lamp and a black plastic panel around it. Pillion rider gets grab rails painted in silver. Exhaust end can gets a chrome section with CVTi branding. Under-seat storage capacity available is 19 litres. Both the wheels and the engine have been painted in black. Key is conventionally placed under the handle bar and there is an uncovered storage bin over here.
The Scooty Zest tries to carry forward the Scooty brand which has become synonymous with the Scooter category. It is powered by a 109.7cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine pumping out 8 PS of power at 7,500 RPM and 8.7 Nm of torque at 5,500 RPM. It is mated to a CVT-I transmission. The same engine + gearbox combo is found in the Wego and Jupiter scooters. Braking power comes from 110mm font drum brakes and 130mm rear drum brakes. It gets telescopic front suspension and a hydraulic rear monoshock. TVS claims the fuel efficiency of the Zest to be in the range of 62 kmpl. 0-60 kmph stint is achieved in 11.1 seconds. Weighing just 97 kgs, this light scooter would be a preferred choice among the young female riders.
The company has spent almost Rs. 70 crore in the design, development and marketing of the Scooty Zest. TVS aims to sell at least 10,000 units of the Scooty Zest in the first month itself.
