TVS rolls out 1,00,000th BMW 310cc motorcycle at Hosur plant

TVS Motor Company has announced the 100,000 unit rollout of BMW Motorrad’s 310cc bike series. TVS Motors’ Hosur facility hosted the rollout of the celebratory 100,000th unit. The brand also revealed that the company’s Hosur facility produces around 10% of BMW Motorrad’s global volumes of bikes available across 120 countries.

In 2013, both TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad signed a cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, TVS Motor Company will develop and produce sub-500cc bikes for the global market. The agreement led to the creation of three products on the 310cc platform at the Hosur facility. These were BMW’s G 310 R and G 310 GS along with TVS Motor Company’s Apache RR 310.

BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS: Detailed Highlights 

BMW positions the G 310 R as a roadster motorcycle and the G 310 GS as an adventure bike. Both bikes feature the same 313cc, reverse-inclined, single-cylinder engine producing 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque. The G 310 R features three colour options – Style Sport, Cosmic Black 2, Kyanite Blue Metallic. The G 310 GS also features three colour options – Rallye Style, Polar White, and Cosmic Black.

The refinement and efficiency of the engine have improved after being upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms. The bikes come with a 6-speed gearbox with an updated self-reinforcing slipper/assist clutch for smoother gear shifts. Starting prices for BMW’s G 310 R and G 310 GS are INR 2.6 lakh and INR 3.0 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

TVS Apache RR 310: Detailed Highlights 

The Apache RR310 is TVS’ flagship motorcycle and now comes with dynamic and race kits under the ‘Built to Order’ program. The brand offers the Apache RR310 with Titanium Black, Racing Red, and Race Replica colour schemes with an optional personalized race number. Powering the Apache RR310 is a liquid-cooled 312.2cc reverse inclined single-cylinder motor producing 34 PS of power and 27.3 Nm of torque.

The bike features four riding modes – Urban, Sport, Track and Rain to suit the rider’s situational needs. In Urban and Rain modes, the engine delivers 25.8 PS of power and 25 Nm of torque. Starting price for the Apache RR310 is INR 2,59,990 (ex-showroom), and with optional extras, the price is INR 2,81,490 (ex-showroom).
