BS6 TVS Radeon claims 15% more mileage, launched at INR 58,992

Chennai headquartered motorcycle manufacturer TVS has upgraded the TVS Radeon commuter segment motorcycle to BS6 emission standards which are now priced starting INR 58,992 ex-showroom, Delhi. The TVS Radeon BS6 comes in three variants Base edition, Commuter Bike of the Year – Drum and Commuter Bike of the Year – Disc.

The TVS Radeon BS6 now comes with an upgraded engine which is a 109.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke DuraLife engine with Eco-Thrust Fuel Injection (ET-FI) that produces 8.08 bhp of power and 8.7 Nm of torque matched to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The commuter motorcycle is 2025mm in length, 705mm in width, 1080mm in height gets 1265mm of the wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 180mm. The drum brake version weighs 116 kg while the disc brake variant weighs at 118 kg. 

The new Eco-Thrust Fuel Injected engine claims to have improved the mileage figure by 15%. The new engine uses low friction components which enable it to be more refined and gives a smoother ride quality. The brand also claims that the new engine is easy to start in all weather conditions and has low maintenance and comes with a malfunction indicator. 

In terms of its design and styling, the TVS Radeon remains largely unchanged and features a clear lens halogen headlamp with chrome bezel and a body-coloured headlight shroud, body-coloured fenders, tank graphics, a blacked-out engine with side covers treated in golden paint, chrome exhaust cover, flat bench seats, chrome upright handlebars, chrome side handle with hook and a chrome pillion grab rail with a small luggage rack. 

The TVS Radeon also features equipment such as an analogue squarish instruments console with the speedometer on the left a fuel gauge on the right and telltale light in between. The instruments cluster also comes with a malfunction light and a side stand indicator armed with a warning buzzer. The TVS Radeon also features rubberized thigh pads on the side of the tank and a tank cushion on top, flexible turn indicators, quilted seats, metallic levers and chrome rear view mirrors. 

For cycle parts, the TVS Radeon comes with a single cradle tubular frame that rides on telescopic oil damped shock absorber on the front and a 5 step adjustable hydraulic twin suspension on the rear. Stopping power comes from 130mm internally expanding mechanical drum brake on the front with  Synchronized Braking Technology and a 110mm drum on the rear. The Commuter of the Year edition also comes with a 240mm hydraulically operated disc on the front wheel. 

TVS has also launched the upgraded BS6 version of the TVS Sport commuter motorcycle with price starting at INR 51,750 ex-showroom, Delhi.
