According to a media report, Chennai based motorcycle manufacturer TVS is planning to bring a new product in the Indian market based on the BMW 310 platform. TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad are likely to bring this new product under the TVS badge. While details on the new motorcycle are scarce, it is being speculated that the 2-wheeler could be a naked version of the Apache RR310 which recently got updated to BS6 standards.
If that is the case, the street naked model which could be called Apache RTR 310 is likely to feature an LED headlamp unit, wider more street-friendly handlebars and a more upright rider’s triangle. Other features from the Apache RR310 are likely to be carried forward such as a full-colour TFT instruments console with TVS Smart X-Connect features like ride planning, navigation assist etc, ride-by-wire throttle and riding modes.
The powertrain is likely to be the same BS6 compliant unit that was recently launched on the updated BS6 Apache RR310. The Apache RR310 uses a 312.2cc single cylinder, liquid-cooled, reverse inclined, 4-stroke, 4-valve DOHC engine that produces 34 PS of power @ 9700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of torque @ 7700 rpm in Sport and Track mode and 25.8 PS of power @ 7600 rpm and 25 Nm of torque @ 6700 rpm in Urban and Rain mode. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with negative back-rack angle gears and a race-tuned slipper clutch.
The street naked roadster is also likely to share the mechanical hardware from the Apache RR310 which features a split Trellis frame that rides on inverted cartridge-type telescopic fork on the front and a mono-tube floating piston gas assisted shock absorber mounted on a two-arm aluminium die-cast swing-arm. The stopping power comes from a single 300mm petal type disc on the front and a single 240mm petal type disc on the rear equipped with dual-channel ABS with three ride modes.
It is also being speculated that TVS could bring an Adventurer tourer as well but a naked roadster is likely to be brought before an adventure model.
