Last year, TVS launched the reworked iQube range of electric scooters. Now, the company is planning to launch a few more all-electric offerings in the two-wheeler segment. At an investors’ meeting, K N Radhakrishnan, CEO and Director at TVS, revealed the plans. According to the plans, the Indian bike maker will launch many EVs in the next 18 months. The power output for these will range from 5 kW to 25 kW.
We know that the TVS iQube has 4.4 kW motor. This means that all these new models will be placed ahead of this scooter. The power range begins from 5 kW and goes all the way to 25 kW. Hence it is safe to assume that TVS will venture out in the premium two-wheeler space. Could this also mean that there is an upcoming electric motorcycle coming up as well?
It is not yet clear on what battery pack design these electric vehicles will use. They could have fixed or swappable battery designs. It was not yet revealed about this, but Radhakrishnan did say that they would present options that would delight the customers.
New ICE vehicles have also been planned in the upcoming future, but details about the same were scant as well.
Since launch, the TVS iQube has been managing to double its sales every quarter. Hence this growth and the trust of the customers in the TVS brand might have prompted the company to work on more EVs. While the company works on new EVs, the iQube will hold the fort.
TVS iQube and TVS iQube S variants get the TVS-designed battery of 3.4 kWh. With this, it delivers a practical 100 km on-road range per charge. It also gets a long list of features. This includes a 7-inch TFT display, HMI controls and reverse parking. The top-of-the-line variant, TVS iQube ST uses the TVS Motor-designed 5.1 kWh battery pack. It delivers the best-in-class 140 km of on-road range per charge.
