India’s only factory-owned racing team, TVS Racing, set a new record for the fastest scooter ride to Leh from Kanyakumari. Shamim Khan, a member of TVS Racing, achieved this feat by riding the TVS NTORQ 125 Race XP. The ride took 126 hours and 14 minutes, breaking the previously set record of 130 hours and 27 minutes.
Shamim began the 4000 km journey from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu to Leh by covering Tumkur, Nashik, Jaipur, and Manali. He covered the distance from Bangalore to Chandigarh despite constant rain showers along with a 768 km continuous lengthy stretch from Tumkur to Pune. Shamim has won 2 national championships along with accolades in Dirt Bikes, Motorcycles, and Scooters.
As a Factory Rider for TVS Racing, he has also participated in multiple national and international rallies. Born in Nashik, Shamim is a National Motocross Champion and has represented India at the International Scooter Olympics. Held in Taiwan during the year 2005, he achieved an overall 3rd position at the event.
Recently launched in India, the TVS NTORQ 125 Race XP is the only 125cc scooter that produces over 10 Ps of power. It is also the country’s first and only petrol-powered scooter to offer dual riding modes. These modes aided Shamim throughout his record-breaking journey.
The Race XP sits at the top of the TVS NTORQ 125 range and is available in a new race-inspired colour with graphics. The scooter also features new red-painted alloy wheels and a TVS SMARTXONNECT connect the platform with Voice Assist Features. The NTorq Race XP is only offered with one colour option, which is the ‘Race Red Black’. The scooter also features sharp and aggressive headlamps and taillamps with a design inspired by stealth aircraft.
The TVS NTORQ 125 Race XP sports a 125cc single-cylinder air/fan-cooled motor. Thanks to Race Tuned Fuel Injection (RT-Fi) technology, the scooter produces 10.2 PS of power and 10.8 Nm of torque. The scooter also sports a Street Mode and Race Mode, with the former being ideal for city traffic conditions. Race Mode grants access to enhanced highway performance and the capability to reach a top speed of 98 kmph.
