BS6 compliant TVS Apache RTR 180 with Fuel-Injection launched at INR 1.01 lakh

TVS has upgraded the TVS Apache RTR 180 to BS6 standards and with the update, the Apache RTR 180 has also become costlier and retails at INR 1.01 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. At this price the Apache RTR 180 matches the price tag of the drum brake variant of the recently updated BS6 compliant Apache RTR 160 4V while the disc brake variant costs INR 1.04 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. 

The Apache 180 got a mild update two years ago which include a new paint theme, body graphics, updates to instrumentation, seat materials and redesigned crash guards. On this new update, the major change is going to be on the powertrain of the motorcycle. The BS6 compliant over-squared 177.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled two-valve engine with Race-Tuned Fuel-Injection (RT-FI) produces 16.79 ps of power and 15.5 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox with a Glide Through clutch technology which claims to allow effortless launch off the line. 

The Apache RTR 180 features a roadster design with LED daytime running lights, a mini flyscreen, headlight shrouds, angular fuel tank design, an underbelly cowl, semi-step up single-seat, conventional telescopic front forks, twin gas-charged shocks on the rear, 270mm petal disc brake on the front and a 200mm petal disc brake on the rear equipped with a single-channel ABS. The Apache RTR 180 also features a double-cradle Synchronised Stiff chassis for rigidity in the straights as well as a flex in the tight corners. 

The TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 is 2085mm long, 730mm wide, 1103mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1300mm, ground clearance of 170mm and seat height of 790mm. To put things into perspective, the Apache RTR 160 4V BS6 which is priced very close to the RTR 180 measures in at 2035mm in length, 790mm in width, 1050mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1357mm, ground clearance of 180mm and a seat height of 800mm. 

The Apache RTR 180 BS6 competes with the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ 3.0 in the Indian market.
