TVS Racing proves its motor sporting heritage yet again. India’s first factory racing team recently rescripted a milestone in the record books. The team recently concluded The Valley Run 2022 drag racing event at the Aamby Valley airstrip in Pune by winning 2 accolades. This was in Indian Open Unrestricted Class (Upto 390 cc). The factory racing team created a new record by setting the fastest quarter-mile timing in Indian Open Drag Racing Class. This was with its turbocharged TVS Apache RR 310.
TVS Racing’s 10-time INMRC champion Jagan Kumar clocked an astonishing 11.523-second timing for the quarter mile. This beats the previous record K Y Ahamed who finished second with a quarter-mile timing of 11.996 seconds. The heavily reworked engine on the TVS Apache RR 310 makes almost twice the power output of the street version motorcycle. This perfectly sets up another exemplary technological benchmark for the TVS Racing team. The motorcycle uses an electronically controlled turbocharger along with other compatible powertrain changes.
The engine also gets titanium connecting rod along with titanium valves and lighter forged pistons. A programmable and closed-loop electronic system with quick-shift and launch control further adds to the excitement. The aerodynamic efficient carbon fibre bodywork with carbon fibre wheel and subframe help in improving the power-to-weight ratio.
The motorcycle also gets a reduced ride height with a lowered centre of gravity. This helps to have a stable and minimum weight transfer effect under maximum acceleration. The increased wheelbase through the extended swing arm helped greatly to effectively move the CG position forward. This helps to prevent wheelies on acceleration. The motorcycle especially made up for the event weighs 37 per cent lower than its street version.
TVS Racing has been a pioneer in budding the motorsports culture in India since 1982. It has played an integral role in growing the racing performance culture. Moreover, it has been pivotal in engineering the TVS Apache series through the company’s “Track to Road” strategy. TVS has redefined the sports segment by focusing on race performance, making it a highly desirable product for sports enthusiasts in the country.
