The first bike developed under the Bajaj-Triumph partnership is expected to be launched on 5th July 2023. According to the invite, we can note that the silhouette looks similar to a modern retro bike. This means, the first bike to be launched under the Indo-British partnership could be the Triumph Street 400 roadster. Even now, the name of the bike is not yet known.
The official invitation mentions one motorcycle. However, it is also possible that the Triumph Street Scrambler 400 could be launched as well. By launching two bikes at once, the buyers will be able to get the motorcycle of their choice. That said, the global launch will take place on 27th June 2023 in London, UK.
The Roadster is expected to be offered with 17-inch wheels and tarmac focussed tyres. It will be positioned as a street motorcycle. Meanwhile, the Scrambler could come with 19 and 17-inch wheels (front and rear) with dual purpose tyres. On both the bikes, we can expect upside down (USD) suspensions at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the back.
Triumph could offer features like LED lights, digital instrument cluster and dual channel ABS as standard. Some more features that could be expected on the bikes include a ride-by-wire throttle and slipper clutch. The British bike maker could also offer smartphone connectivity with navigation support.
An all new 400cc engine has been developed by Triumph. This motor will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. THe speciality of this engine will be low-end and mid torque. That said, we have to await the official power figures till the launch.
According to a media report, the new Triumph 400 cc bikes are expected to be priced under INR 3,00,000 (ex-showroom). This means that they would compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H’Ness CB350, Royal Enfield Scram 411 and the Yezdi Scrambler to name a few.
