Triumph India has 16 motorcycles in its product portfolio and the bran is planning to further ad 9 new model in 2021 to strengthen the line-up. The new motorcycles will be launched in a span of 6 months from January to June which makes more than one model launched every month. The models will also include some special edition models as well. Triumphs regular models are also expected to get a refresh within the period.
The brand’s aggressive strategy with the nine new motorcycles will consolidate its position in the niche segment and the company expects to grow by 20-25% in the current fiscal, though the brand saw almost a flat line in the calendar year 2020 due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in first few months. It is also important to note that the overall premium motorcycle market de-grown by nearly 35% in the last 12 months.
But the brand also confirms that even due to the pandemic and the slumped sales in the premium segment the brand in the last 6-7 months has shown a growth of 12% reviving itself from July. This year the brand also introduced BS6 models as well as the new Street Triple RS sport tourer, Street Triple R, all-new Tiger 900 and the Rocket GT. The brand has also sold more than 100 Rockets this year.
The brand has also revealed that it is going to enter into a long-term strategy with Bajaj Auto under which a completely new set of products will be made. The brand has a very clear roadmap for the Indian market, says the report. The Bajaj Triumph venture will address a new set of clientele, a much larger set of customers in India.
Currently, the brand has unveiled the Triumph Trident 660 powered by a 660cc three-cylinder liquid-cooled 12-valve DOHC motor that produces 81 PS of power and the Triumph Tiger 850 powered by an 888cc liquid-cooled, inline 3-cylinder, 12 valves DOHC engine that makes 85 PS of power. Both motorcycles are slated to go on sale the next year.
