Triumph Tiger 850 Sport listed for India, launch by early 2021

Iconic British brand Triumph revealed the entry-level Adventure class motorcycle in the Tiger family dubbed the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport, in November this year. The brand has now listed the Tiger 850 Sport on the Indian website leading us to believe that the Adventure Tourer will be launched in the Indian market in the coming months. The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will be positioned under below the Tiger 900 and will be a road-biased adventure tourer.

The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is powered by an 888cc inline 3-cylinder engine with liquid-cooling and 12-valves DOHC valvetrain along with a Multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection system churning out 85 PS of power and 82 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate slip & assist clutch.

The engine features the same T-Plane crankshaft with the 1-3-2 firing order, from the latest generation Tiger 900 that improves the tractability and more punch in the low RPM range. The new firing order delivers more accessible and usable power and torque within a manageable range that makes the Tiger 850 Sport easy to ride within the city, comfortable for the highways and sporty enough for weekend sprints. The new T-plane crank and firing order coupled with a new stainless steel 3 into 1 exhaust header system with an upswept side-mounted stainless steel muffler which comes as a standard fitment from the factory also produces an aural pleasure.

The Tiger 850 Sport also comes with features such as 45mm Marzocchi upside-down cartridge forks with 180mm travel, preload adjustable gas-shock on the rear, a new generation modular frame with bolt-on subframe, 320mm discs with Brembo Stylema 4 piston Monobloc callipers, all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire throttle, Road and Rain riding modes, built-in two-position adjustable seat height mechanism, 5-inch full TFT instruments cluster and switchable traction control.

Apart from the Tiger 850 Sport, the brand has also listed the Triumph Trident 660 on the Indian website and confirmed that the naked roadster will be launched in January 2021. The brand has already started accepting bookings on the Trident 660 across all Triumph dealerships in India. The booking amount has been set to INR 50,000 an is refundable up to 100% until the price announcement of the motorcycle.
