Triumph Speed T4 Vs. Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 – Price & Specification Comparison

Triumph unveiled the most affordable Triumph motorcycle in India a few days ago, the Speed T4. Making it very clear that the T stands for torque, Triumph claims that this motorcycle will give the riders a better low-end torque. This move forces us to believe that the new Speed T4 is targetted to compete with the Royal Enfields. Let’s take a look at how it fares with RE’s latest offering the Guerrilla 450.

Engine and Performance

The Guerrilla 450 is powered by a 452 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves engine that produces 40.02 PS @ 8000 rpm and 40 Nm @ 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. On the other hand, the Triumph Speed T4 is powered by a 398.15 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC, 4 valves engine that produces 31 PS @ 7000 rpm and 36 Nm @ 5000 rpm. This too is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Guerrilla 450 profuces more power thanks to its bigger engine. However, the Speed T4 has better lower end torque, 90% of which kicks in at just 3500 rpm.

While both the motorcycles are closely matched in terms of features, the Guerrilla 450 gets riding modes as well which gives it an edge over the Speed T4.

Price

  • Triumph Speed T4: Priced at approximately INR 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom) .
  • Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: Priced at around INR 2.39 lakh (ex-showroom), making it INR 22,000 more expensive

The Guerrilla is clearly more expensive than the new Speed T4 however, it boasts of a bigger engine and some extra features that the Speed T4 does not get. It boils down to individual preference of the rider on what kind of ride quality and performance dynamics he/she expects. We can tell you more about the bikes when we get to ride the Speed T4.
