Size Comparison – Scrambler 400 X vs Himalayan vs 390 Adventure
The Triumph’s latest offering in India measures 2,154 mm long, 901 mm wide and is 1169 mm high. The wheelbase measures 1,418 mm and the seat height is 835 mm. The kerb weight is 195 kg.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is 2,160 mm long, 840 mm wide and has a height of 1,370 mm (including the flyscreen). The wheelbase comes in at 1,465 mm and the seat height is 800 mm. The bike weighs 199 kg.
The KTM’s 390 Adventure measures 2,145 mm long, 900 mm wide and is 1,400 mm high. The wheelbase is 1,430 mm and seat height measures 855 mm. The bike tips the scales at 177 kg.
Hardware differences compared – Scrambler 400 X vs Himalayan vs 390 Adventure
The Triumph Scrambler 400 X gets 43mm big piston upside-down shocks at the front and a pre-load adjustable rear mono shock. Both these offer 150 mm of suspension travel. The front brake measures 320 mm while the rear comes in at 230 mm. Dual channel ABS is standard. The Scrambler 400 X gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys.
The Himalayan meanwhile gets 41 mm front forks with 200 mm travel and a rear mono shock with 180 mm travel. Braking futures are handled by a 300 mm disc up front and a 240 mm one at the back. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels with knobby tyres.
The KTM offers the 390 Adventure in 3 variants. These get 43 mm front forks with 170 mm travel and a rear mono shock with 177 mm wheel travel. The units differ in the adjustability of the suspension. The bike has 320 mm disc up front and a 230 mm disc at the back. Customers can choose from both spoke rims and alloys with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear size.
Scrambler 400 X vs Himalayan vs 390 Adventure : Powertrain Details
The Scrambler 400 X gets a 398cc, liquid-cooled engine. This motor develops 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox is paired with it.
The Himalayan meanwhile comes with a 411cc air-cooled engine. It puts out 24.3 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm @ 4,000-4,500 rpm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
The 390 Adventure is powered by a 43 BHP / 37 Nm single cylinder 373.27cc motor. This engine is liquid-cooled and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
