Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC launched in India at INR 10.73 lakh

The new Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC has been launched in India. The Scrambler 1200 is internationally available in the XE, with more off-road equipment and the base model XC, which is the only variant being offered in the Indian market. The Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC comes with two paint schemes – Jet Black with Matte Black and Khaki Green with Brooklands Green and the motorcycle is priced at INR 10.73 lakh ex-showroom, India and as of now it has no direct competition in India.

The Scrambler 1200 XC comes with features like full LED lighting with LED daytime running lights, 5 riding modes – Rain, Road, Off-Road, Sport and Rider-customizable, a 2nd generation fully digital display with GoPro action camera control integration and when it is equipped with the Bluetooth connectivity module the console shows turn-by-turn navigation and also enables music and smartphone operation. The bike also has features like tyre pressure monitoring system as an accessory option, USB port and optional heated hand grips.

The engine powering the Scambler 1200 XC is a Thruxton-sourced 1,200cc, 8-valve, 270-degree crank angle, parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox along with a slipper assist clutch and switchable traction control. The engine has a different state of tune and has more grunt in the low and mid-range as compared to the Thruxton. The final drive ratio has also been tweaked to suit the bikes riding dynamics.

The chassis on the Scrambler 1200 XC is a tubular steel with aluminium cradle frame and it rides on 45mm Showa upside-down fork on the front which offers 200mm of travel and the rear has fully adjustable Ohlins twin shocks with 200mm of travel on a twin-sided swingarm. The braking is provided by dual 320mm front discs with Brembo M50 4-piston callipers and a single 255mm disc with Brembo 2-piston calliper on the rear equipped with a dual-channel ABS. The wheels on the Scrambler 1200 XC are 21-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium rims, with side-laced spokes and the wheels are shod in Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tubeless tyres.

The Scrambler 1200 XC is 1,200mm tall without mirrors and the handlebar width is 840mm. It has a seat height of 840mm and the fuel tank capacity is 16 litres and the tank comes with a brushed aluminium Monza filler cap. The dry weight of the bike is 205 kg.
