Triumph recalls Speed Triple RR & RS for brake issue

Triumph Motorcycles is recalling their new Speed Triple 1200 RR and also the Speed Triple 1200 RS models in the US for a safety recall. The company says the recall affects 910 motorcycles sold in the US. The ongoing recall is for a potential rear disc brake failure.

Speed Triple 1200 RR & Speed Triple 1200 RS – The Problem

As per the British manufacturer, there is a risk of the rear brake disc bolt loosening unexpectedly. If it does, it can then interfere with the other components around the rear wheel and obstruct the free movement of the wheel. Triumph Motorcycle says a warning sign for the customers is a strange noise from the rear of the motorcycle. Customers will know the problem exists if they hear such a sound. However, it is important to note that no crash, damage, injury or death has been reported pertaining to the recall.

Speed Triple 1200 RR & Speed Triple 1200 RS – The Solution

Triumph Motorcycles will contact the owners of the bikes affected by the recall and will also ask them to visit the nearest service centre. The service centre will replace the rear brake disc bolts, which will be free of cost for the customers.

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS – Price and Specifications

Triumph only has the Speed Triple 1200 RS on sale in India and comes with a sticker price of INR 17.95 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle features a 1,160cc inline 3-cylinder engine with a 12-valve DOHC drivetrain. It produces 180 PS of power and 125 NM of torque paired with a 6-speed gearbox and slip & assist clutch.

While the suspension at the front is a preload, rebound and compression adjustable Ohlins NIX30 upside-down forks and a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock at the rear. The bike also features a six-axis IMU which enables advanced cornering ABS. Five different riding modes – Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider- are available for different riding scenarios.
