For reasons unknown, Triumph motorcycles has apparently tweaked the power and torque figures on some of their best selling motorcycles here in India. The bikes which have fallen prey to this detuning include the Daytona, Street Triple, Speed Triple and Bonneville.
All of these bikes account for majority of the sales numbers in India, and compared to the models sold abroad, the bikes here in India have a noticeable reduction in the power and torque figures.
This is unlike any other high end, sportsbike manufacturer who prefers to sell their higher capacity motorcycles as is in multiple markets. There is no clarity at the moment why this is being done, but chances are the bikes sold in India are running slightly different ECU maps compared to those sold in the UK.
Although, even after the drop in power figures, these bikes pack a lot of punch considering the road conditions here in India. Still, enthusiasts will not be very happy about this move by Triumph.
