Triumph has launched the new Street Scrambler in the Indian market with a price tag starting at INR 9.35 lakh ex-showroom. The brand used to retail the Street Scrambler in the higher-specification Sandstorm edition. The Steet Scrambler Sandstorm edition is still on sale with a price tag of INR 9.95 lakh ex-showroom. But the Sandstorm is sold in a limited production run of just 775 units worldwide. While the Sandstorm comes with a single special edition colour, the new Street Scrambler comes with single-tone and dual-tone colour options. Compared to the BS4 version, the new Street Scrambler is INR 80,000 more expensive than the predecessor.
In terms of the updates, most features are purely cosmetic. However, the new Street Scrambler also comes with a Euro5/BS6 compliant engine. The bike gets LED headlamps and a new brushed aluminium headlight bracket. The bike also comes with new throttle body finishers enhancing the look of the motorcycle. Other design features such as the modern-classic styling, high-mount twin exhausts, a classic fuel tank with knee recesses, bench seating and wire-spoke wheels. The bike also comes with a black finish on the engine and running gear. The bike comes with an analogue speedometer and LCD multi-functional display.
Powering the Triumph Street Scrambler will be a 900cc parallel-twin-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled engine comes with a 270-degree crank angle and SOHC valvetrain distribution system. The engine produces 65 PS of power and 80 Nm of torque. The engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox and a wet, multi-plate torque-assist clutch.
The Street Scrambler features a double-cradle chassis that rides on 41mm forks with cartridge damping on the front. Rear suspension duties are handled by twin shocks with adjustable preload. Both ends offer 120mm of travel. Stopping power comes from a 310mm floating disc with Brembo 4-piston axial calliper on the front and a single 255mm disc on the rear with a Nissin calliper. The Street Scrambler also offers ABS for safety.
