Triumph has revealed the new Daytona 765 motorcycle to the world in a limited edition Moto2 avatar. The Triumph Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition will only have 765 copies built, before a standard 765cc version is introduced in the market. While the bike doesn’t look drastically different from the old Daytona 675, the British brand claims that a lot has changed. And well, the 765cc engine which has been seen on other Triumph motorcycles finally gets matched with the Daytona, but in Moto2 spec.
Since an official license has been received to use the Moto2 branding on this limited edition model, the bike surely has some additional tech. The 765cc, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder engine produces 130 PS of power @ 12250 RPM and 80 Nm of torque @ 9750 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is claimed to be the most advanced Daytona model ever, and has an ECU from the Street Triple RS which boosts torque availability while the motor revvs higher than the Street Triple RS by an additional 600 RPM now redlining at 13250 RPM.
Additional parts on the Triumph Daytona Moto2 765 include titanium inlet valves, stronger pistons, DLC coated gudgeon pins, new camshaft profiles, new intake trumpets, and higher compression ratio. Triumph has also worked jointly with Arrow to develop light 3 x 1 high performance exhaust system with a titanium end can which mimics the styling of the Moto2 bike. Gear ratios on this motorcycle are optimised for race track use.
The Triumph Daytona Moto2 765 gets 5 riding modes with ride-by-wire and features like traction control and ABS which get tweaked according to the modes. The bike also gets a quickshifter, autoblipper, full-colour TFT instrument console, Moto2 style lap timer and welcome note, 17″ cast aluminium rims, full carbon body panels, Union Jack livery and an anodised aluminium chassis and swingarm which is reworked heavily for the new engine and better rigidity. The bike rides on 43mm Ohlins NIX30 USD front forks and a TTX36 rear monoshock suspension. Braking power comes from Brembo Stylema with radial master cylinders.
The bike will be available with Moto2 branding and in carbon black, graphite grey, exposed carbon fibre and aluminium silver paint schemes.
