Triumph clocks over 1,000 sales within 11 months

Triumph, the British motorcycle brand has announced that they have clocked over 1,000 bookings across 5 model categories post the inception of its first dealership in January 2014.

The Triumph line-up in India includes the Bonneville and Bonneville T100, Speed Triple, Rocket III Roadster, Street Triple, café racer Thruxton, Tiger 800 XC and Tiger Explorer, Thunderbird Storm, Thunderbird LT and the Daytona 675 & 675R.

Triumph has also launched two new dealerships in Chandigarh and Kolkata. With these new dealerships Triumph Motorcycles now sells in 10 cities across the country, the other eight being Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai.

For reasons unknown, Triumph has been detuning their popular products in India.

  • Bonneville: 61 PS @ 7,500 RPM & 61 Nm @ 5,550 RPM in India while 68 BHP @ 7,500 RPM & 68 Nm @ 5,800 RPM in UK
  • Street Triple: 79 PS @ 11,050 RPM & 57 Nm @ 8,375 RPM in India while 105 BHP @ 11,850 RPM & 68 Nm @ 9,750 RPM in UK
  • Speed Triple: 127 PS @ 9,300 RPM & 105 Nm @ 7,800 RPM in India while 133 BHP @ 9,400 RPM & 111 Nm @ 7,750 RPM in UK
  • Daytona 675: 118 PS @ 12,300 RPM & 70 Nm @ 9,900 RPM in India while 126 BHP @ 12,500 RPM & 74 Nm @ 11,900 RPM in UK
  • Daytona 675R: 118 PS @ 12,300 RPM & 70 Nm @ 9,900 RPM in India while 129 BHP @ 12,500 RPM & 74 Nm @ 9,750 RPM in UK

 

For the month of October ’14, Triumph has managed to sell 114 units in the Indian market and is closer to moving past Kawasaki which managed to sell only 127 units, even though the Japanese brand has lower priced and lower displacement products.
