Toyota Yaris facelift officially teased

Toyota has teased the new Toyota Vios which is scheduled to be revealed tonight in the South East Asian market. The Toyota Vios is marketed as the Toyota Yaris in the Indian market and the teaser reveals that the new facelift model will be receiving major updates to its exteriors with minor changes to its interiors. 

The majority of change is to the front and rear fascia and the and according to the teaser images the Toyota Vios features a new bumper with new sweptback headlamp units, restyled grille, trapezoidal lower intake a new air dam, new design alloy wheels and reworked rear apron. 

In terms of styling, the India-spec model features upswept fog lamp inserts in black, rounded bumper-mounted fog lamps, wraparound headlight units with auto headlamp function, LED daytime running light integrated on the bumper, raised bonnet ridges, flared wheel arches, diamond-cut alloy wheels, chrome door handle, shark-fin antenna, wraparound tail lamps with LED line guide. 

On the inside, the facelift model is expected to come with an updated infotainment system with the latest generation telematics unit and new updates to the seat upholstery. The Toyota Yaris in India features dual-tone interiors with waterfall design on the centre console, manual heating and air conditioner, fabric seat upholstery, Optitron instrumentation, multi-information display with eco indicator and cooled glove box. 

The Toyota Yaris is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre four-cylinder 16-valve dual VVT-i petrol engine that produces 107 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 7-speed Super CVT-i. In terms of safety, the Toyota Yaris features all four disc brakes, 7-airbags, ABS+EBD, brake assist and other standard automotive safety features such as reverse sensors, speed alert warning, seat belt reminder etc.

The brand launched the Toyota Yaris in the Indian market back in 2018 but the car has not been a success here in India and it is being reported that the Toyota Yaris will soon be offered to fleet operators in the Indian market. 

In related news, the brand may be planning to launch the Toyota Land Cruiser luxury SUV back in the Indian market. Reports have also suggested that the brand is planning to introduce the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza rebadged as the Toyota ‘Urban Cruiser’ in India.
