Toyota will launch Fortuner Legender variant in India next year

Following the introduction of the facelift Innova Crysta in the Indian market, the Japanese car manufacturer is now gearing up to launch the new Toyota Fortuner facelift in the Indian market which will be on the lines of the facelift model that was earlier revealed in the Thailand market. Now it is being rumoured that Toyota will also launch the Fortuner Legender and more upmarket version of the standard Fortuner but features a reworked front fascia and sharp aggressive front end design.

Compared to the standard Fortuner, the Legender features sleek and sharp LED cluster headlamps with integrated daytime running lamps, an X-shaped front bumper, aircraft-inspired fog lamp area, a wide air dam, large lower air intakes, large 20-inch alloy wheels, gloss black accents on the radiator grille. While the rear section of the vehicle remains majorly the same but the rear bumper features mild changes. On the inside, the Legender is expected to come with a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay integration, wireless charging, radar-guided cruise control, lane departure warning, wheel orientation sensor and more.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender is expected to be powered by a more powerful 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that makes 204 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed sequential-shift automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. In the Thailand market, the Fortuner Legender also comes with the option of a 2.4-litre motor that makes 150 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque.

It is speculated that the Toyota Fortuner Legender, when launched in the Indian market, will demand a premium price of nearly INR 10 lakhs more than the standard Fortuner owing to the added features such as cruise control and a bigger more powerful powertrain. The Toyota Fortuner Legender will be pinned against the MG Gloster SUV and the Ford Endeavour.

In other news, it is being reported that Toyota has discontinued the limited edition TRD model of the Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market.
