Toyota wants to introduce more Hybrid cars in India

Buoyed by the success the Camry Hybrid has received, Toyota is looking at the possibility to introduce more hybrid products in the Indian marketplace.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid accounts for ~ 75% of the total Camry sales in India. This is irrespective of the fact that the hybrid variant is noticeably more expensive to purchase. Toyota sees more potential for such cars in India and is very keep to tap into the hybrid space.

As of date, Toyota offers the Camry Hybrid and the Prius Hybrid in India priced at Rs. 29.99 lakh & Rs. 36.63 – 38.26 lakh respectively. (Ex-showroom Delhi)

The Camry Hybrid is assembled at Toyota Kirloskar Motors’ second plant in Bidadi, near Bangalore. The hybrid range is assembled on a separate assembly line. India is the 9th country globally to assemble / manufacture hybrid Toyota vehicles.
