Toyota Vios sedan rumoured to be India bound

It is being rumoured that the Japanese auto major, Toyota, is planning to bring the Vios sedan to India. This car will be positioned between the Etios and the Corolla and will take the fight against the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The car is expected to be launched by 2017.

The Vios is currently manufactured in China, Thailand & Malaysia and is sold in multiple Asian markets. The Vios is 4,410mm long, 1,700mm wide and 1,475mm high. The overall design theme will be on par with the recently launched 11th generation Toyota Corolla Altis.

Powertrains expected are a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine pumping 108 BHP & 141 Nm and the familiar 1.4L diesel engine currently powering the Liva, Etios and Corolla. A mix of automatic and manual transmissions cannot be ruled out for the petrol variants.

Toyota has struggled to capitalise on their products under the 10 lakh price bracket with the Etios and Liva. With the Vios, Toyota plans to get some strong sales figures and up their market share.
