Toyota Urban Cruiser launched in India at INR 8.40 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has launched the much-anticipated ‘Urban Cruiser’ compact SUV at the starting price of INR 8.40 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Toyota Urban Cruiser is offered in three trims – Mid, High and Premium in both Manual Transmission and Automatic Transmission options. Toyota is also offering the Urban Cruiser with a 3 years or 1 lakh km warranty, in the Indian market. 

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the result of the global Toyota-Suzuki alliance and is the second model launched in Indian under the partnership. The Toyota Urban Cruiser is targeted towards the young generation customers and comes with feature-rich comfort and convenience options along with both manual and automatic gearbox across all variants. 

On the outside, the Toyota Urban Cruiser compact SUV features a two-slat wedge-shaped grille with chrome surrounds and a sporty grey finish flanked by dual-barrel chrome accented LED Projector Headlamps integrated with dual function LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps on the front, split LED combination tail lamps, gun metal grey finished roof rails, 16-inch machine-cut alloy wheels and dual-tone exterior paint options. 

On the inside, the Urban cruiser comes with a dual tone dashboard with premium dark brown fabric seat upholestery, a leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel, Combimeter with 5 colour Vibe Lights, a new 17.78-cm Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto integration, smartphone based navigation system, four door speaker, two tweeters, keyless entry with Push Start/Stop button, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, cooled glove compartment etc. 

The urban Cruiser is powered by a BS6 emission-compliant ‘K-Series 1.5 litre four-cylinder Petrol Engine’ with an ISG – Integrated Starter Generator motor coupled to a Lithium-Ion battery that provides torque assist and comes with Brake Energy Regeneration Function. The powertrain has been borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and produces produces 105 Hp of power and 138 Nm of torque matched to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency of 17.03 kmpl (MT) and 18.76 kmpl (AT). 

In terms of safety, the Urban Cruiser features an Advanced Body Structure, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, Reverse Parking Camera with Display in Audio, ISOFIX Child Seat Restraint System, Anti-Pinch Driver Side Power Window and an Electrochromic IRVM. 

The Urban Cruiser comes with special dual-tone colours – Rustic Brown with Sizzling Black Roof and Groovy Orange with Sunny White Roof. It is also available in another dual-tone colour – Spunky Blue with Sizzling Black Roof and monotone colours such as Suave Silver, Groovy Orange, Iconic Grey, Spunky Blue, Sunny White and a Toyota exclusive Rustic Brown.
