Toyota Kirloskar Motor announces its sales report for the month of October 2021. The Japanese carmaker posted a total sales of 12,440 units for the given period. And this results in a month-over-month growth of 34 per cent. For reference, the sales figure for September 2021 stood at 9,284 units, whereas for October 2020, it was 12,373 units. The month-over-month growth suggests the demand is now picking up pace. The festive season and the vaccination drive is providing much confidence as more customers are visiting the showrooms. The company mentioned that their flagship Fortuner and Innova Crysta continue to clock good numbers. Furthermore, Glanza and Urban Cruiser also continue to garner sufficient sales figures.
The second wave of Covid-19 during the start of the year did derail the somewhat recovery that was being witnessed. But, now, for the past few months, demand has grown steadily. In fact, if we compare the sales figure for the period January to October of 2020, which stood at 60,116 units, the figure for the same period this year stood at 106,993 units. This translates to a growth of 78 per cent. Moving forward, the sales figure is expected to grow further. The company mentioned that they are revamping their services so as to meet the high demand and serve their customers.
Recently Toyota had launched a limited edition of the Innova Crysta specifically for the festive season. The SUV gets some added aesthetics to make it more appealing to the customers. Toyota Belta, the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, will soon hit the showrooms. And this is also the reason why Toyota discontinued the production of Yaris. The sedan will have the same mechanicals, although we can expect Toyota to tweak the features and aesthetics a bit. Once launched, the sedan will take on the segment leader Honda City and others like Hyundai Verna, its own sibling Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Skoda Slavia.
