Toyota has taken the wraps off the all-new Century SUV. This is the first time that the Japanese carmaker has used the brand name on an SUV. That said, this Century SUV could be the first Century model to be sold outside the Japanese market.
In terms of dimensions, the new Toyota Century SUV measures 5,205 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, 1,805 mm in tall and has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. Overall shape of this SUV is boxy but it has rounded elements. At the front, the SUV bears resemblance to the Century sedan thanks to its headlamp design. The front grille has the iconic Phoenix emblem.
Customers can opt for 20-inch standard rims or upgrade to the optional 22-inch wheels. Toyota is offering customers the choice of regular rear doors or a sliding configuration for easier ingress and egress. The Toyota Century SUV will get a dual-tone paint shade.
The Century SUV comes with dual 12.3-inch displays at the front. These are for the infotainment and the driver information. The SUV gets the same multifunction steering wheel as the Century sedan. Other features include an 18-speaker sound, multiple wireless chargers, digital rear view mirror and more.
The SUV gets four seats as default. There are powered steps on each side and the rear seats can fold flat electronically. This is a first in the world according to Toyota. Rear seat occupants will also get features like dual 11.6-in displays, removable 5.5-inch touchscreen controller and a fridge as well.
Toyota has offered a 3.5-litre V6 engine with the Century SUV. This is a plug-in hybrid model with stats of 406 BHP and an all-electric range of 69 km. Drivers can opt amongst three driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. There is also a ‘Rear Comfort’ Mode that tweaks the braking in such a manner so as to not disturb the rear occupants. Four wheel steering is also offered as standard equipment on the Century SUV.
