Toyota reveals GR Supra GT4 EVO with 660 Nm torque

Toyota’s racing division – Toyota Gazoo Racing, has unveiled the upgraded version of the Supra GT4 EVO. The car gets updates in its suspension, braking and powertrain.

The Supra GT4 debuted in 2019. The racing division has so far sold over 50 units, which secured over 100 podiums and 50 class wins in GT4 Championships. The team then received feedback for these cars and decided to improve upon the vehicle further. This was done to remain competitive and in top form.

The Supra GT4 Evo gets Steel/aluminium body with high-strength roll cage as per FIA regulations, a 120-litre fuel tank and OMP racing seat with six-point safety harness.

Improvements in Handling and Brakes

The key areas of improvement for the car were brakes, handling and engine. The braking setup now gets a new design with tuned settings for the ABS. The suspension gets the newest KW adjustable racing dampers and an improved anti-roll bar. This has been done to improve the handling at higher speeds. The setup of the car is claimed to suit both amateurs and professional drivers alike.

Changes under the hood

The Supra has a 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder petrol engine. Thanks to a motorsport-grade cooling system, it now gets a power bump up and an optimised torque curve. While the exact power numbers have yet to be divulged, the torque numbers have peaked at 660 Nm. The engine is paired with a Marelli ECU, while an Akrapovic exhaust is fitted at the back. The rear wheels are driven via a modified ZF automatic box using a Drexler limited-slip differential and a GKN Motorsport driveshaft.

Price and Availability.

Toyota Gazoo Racing is now accepting orders for the updated car. The car’s retail price is set at US$ 184,861 (INR 1,52,11,786). Customers who already have the Supra GT4 can also upgrade their cars to EVO spec. The car will debut at the 24 hours of Daytona in January 2023.
