Toyota has recalled certain units of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV the Glanza hatch. The issue pertains to a fault in the airbag controller and around 1,400 units are affected.
Recently Maruti Suzuki too had issued a recall for the Baleno and Grand Vitara models. We know that the Glanza and the Hyryder are based on the same platform as the Maruti offerings. Hence this recall notice was expected for them as well.
According to the Japanese carmaker, vehicles manufactured between 8 December 2022 and 12 January 2023 have been affected.
More details about the Faulty Airbag controller
The airbag control unit could fail. This could result in the non-deployment of the airbag and the seat belt pretensioners in the unlikely event of a crash. Toyota has asked the owners of affected vehicles to not use the vehicles until they have been repaired at the nearby Toyota workshop. Toyota will replace this part free of cost.
Customers can also check the status of their vehicle by visiting the official Toyota website and entering their vehicle’s VIN number.
Earlier Toyota Recalls
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder has previously been also recalled. Back in December 2022, around 1,000 units of the SUV were recalled due to a faulty seat belt shoulder height adjuster. In the affected vehicles, it could come apart. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara too was affected by the same issue as both these cars and assembled on the same line.
