Toyota is recalling the Glanza hatchback in the Indian market. According to reports, the Toyota Glanza has an issue with its fuel pump motor leading to this voluntary recall. Reports suggest that 2,305 units of the hatchback are under the recall. The Glanza manufactured between 2nd April 2019, and 6th October 2019 may have the issue.
Under the recall, authorised dealers across India will be bringing in the Glnza to rectify a possible issue with the fuel pump motor. Toyota Dealerships will individually contact the customer for the necessary procedures. The voluntary recall is likely to be free of cost to the customer.
Customers can also contact their nearest dealerships for assistance and to check if their vehicle is under the recall. In addition to this, customers can also check if their vehicle is under the recall by entering their VIN vehicle identification number on Toyota’s Official website.
The Toyota Glanza is the brand engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In 2022, the brand gave the car a major update such as a new grille, LED DRLs and headlamps, aggressive new bumper and C-shaped taillamps. The car also comes with a Head-up Display and a 360-degree camera for more safety. The Glanza comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine. The engine makes 89 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The powertrain comes with a 5-speed manual as well as an optional 5-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol-powered engine claims a fuel efficiency of 22+ kmpl.
In the past Toyota also recalled the Glanza for a faulty airbag controller. Certain units produced between December 2022 and January 2023, of the Glanza were affected. Reports revealed that the failure of the airbag control could lead to non deployment of the airbag in an unlikely event of a crash. Toyota had asked its customers to bring their vehicles to the nearest dealership and get the module fixed free of cost.
