Toyota promoting Self-Charging Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technology

With the demand for electric vehicles on the high, Toyota takes this opportunity to educate people about the advantages of EVs. Under the campaign of ‘Hum Hai Hybrid’, Toyota has launched a specially curated web video series. These videos are accessible through the Toyota Bharat Website or Social Media Page. The aim is to create awareness among consumers and society about the overall benefits of Self-charging Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Toyota is one of the leading carmakers that is pushing for electric vehicle technology. By 2050, Toyota aims to achieve ‘Carbon Neutrality’. This campaign will also encourage more customers to join the EV movement, thus pushing for mass electrification across the country.

Key Advantages Of Self-charging Hybrid Electric Vehicles

The electric powertrain delivers instant torque instantly from the get-go. Furthermore, SHEVs can run up to 60 per cent of the time in pure electric mode, thereby resulting in significant fuel efficiency. One key area where SHEVs have an advantage over EVs is the range anxiety. SHEV makes use of dual power sources, a petrol engine as well as an electric motor. This ensures complete peace of mind in terms of driving range.

The Self-charging Hybrid Electric Vehicle does not require a plug-in to recharge. The battery gets recharged by running the internal combustion engine and regenerative braking. Another key area where SHEV outshines its ICE counterpart is the maintenance cost. SHEVs run on the electric mode for up to 60 per cent of the time. This ensures minimal wear and tear as the electric motor and battery components do not require much maintenance. This reduces both time, effort and cost in terms of maintenance.

Toyota claims that its warranty covers the battery for up to 8 years or 1,60,000, whichever is earlier. In terms of carbon emissions as well, there’s a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions. With lesser moving parts, SHEVs ensure a quiet and silent driving experience. Running in the EV mode is a pleasurable experience both for the occupants and the driver. The seamless switch between electric and petrol modes ensures a lot more flexibility.
